About Sail-a-thon 2014
For the third year, the "Sail-a-thon to Raise Ovarian Cancer Awareness" will be apart of the Harvest Moon Regatta® (HMR), an offshore sailboat race from Galveston to Port Aransas on October 9th through the 11th, 2014.  All Sail-a-thon proceeds benefit the Judith Liebenthal Robinson Ovarian Cancer Foundation (Judy's Mission®), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

How the Sail-a-thon Began
judy Sail-a-thon to Raise Ovarian Cancer Awareness was started in 2012 to honor the life and memory of Judy Robinson.  Judy was an avid sailor, boat owner and Harvest Moon Regatta® competitor.  She was a member of the HMR committee and a great supporter of the event.  In 2009, Judy was diagnosed with advanced stage ovarian cancer and died in 2010.

Since there is no test for early detection, awareness of the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer is key to improving survival rate.  When identified early, 93% of the women will survive beyond five years compared to the average survival rate of only 44%.  AWARENESS SAVES LIVES!

The 2014 Sail-a-thon Awards
trophy This year, Judy's Mission® will be presenting trophies to the first, second, and third skippers registered in the Harvest Moon Regatta® who raise the most funds.  And a special trophy will be presented to the skipper who has the most individual donations, regardless of the total amount raised.  It is just as important to spread awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms as it is to raise funds!

The winner of the first place trophy will also have his/her name and his/her "team/boat" name engraved on the Judy's Mission Perpetual Trophy.  This trophy was created in 2012 to honor Judy Robinson and is kept on display at Lakewood Yacht Club throughout the year.
